TRANSPORT & TELEPORTERS

Travel in QuantumRift is deliberate. There’s no free fast-travel and no instant teleports just because you have the gear — every journey is a decision. This page covers the game’s teleporter network: the Ship Portal hub, the wilderness Beacon stations, and how death and login fit into your travel options.

(Mounts — Horse, Bull, and Hog — are a separate overland travel system and aren’t covered here.)

The golden rule: no credit costs, only restrictions

No teleport anywhere in the game costs you credits. The “price” you pay instead is:

  • Inventory restrictions — some routes require an empty inventory and empty armor slots.
  • Cooldowns — some routes are rate-limited per player.
  • One-way design — some legs of the network simply don’t exist, on purpose.

Keep that in mind as you read the routes below — the friction is intentional, not a bug.

The Ship Portal (spawn hub)

The Ship is where every player starts, and its portal is the hub of the network.

  • Where to find it: a Respawn Anchor block at world spawn — coordinates (0, 64, 0). Right-click it (you need to be within 3 blocks) to open the Ship Portal menu.
  • How to open it: right-click the anchor. Depending on your client/resource pack setup you’ll see either the classic 3-row chest menu or the cursor-based Ship Portal screen — same three destinations either way.

Destinations from the Ship

Destination Icon What it needs Notes
Random Teleport (RTP) Ender Pearl Empty inventory + empty armor slots (your PDA is exempt — it’s locked to a hotbar slot) Drops you somewhere in the wilderness, 500–5000 blocks from spawn, snapped to the surface
Imperial City Golden Horse Armor Nothing — carries your full pack 5-minute cooldown per player (“One trip every 5m.”)
Team Base Core Beacon Empty inventory + armor (unless your server has turned that requirement off) Your team must have an active, placed Base Core, or the trip is refused

Refusal messages you might see on the Base Core option: “Your team has no Base Core placed.” or “Your team’s Base Core is not active.”

Command shortcuts

Same checks and cooldowns as the menu — these are just accessibility shortcuts, not a way around the rules:

  • /transport ship rtp
  • /transport ship city
  • /transport ship base

There is deliberately no **/transport ship return** and no “return to Ship” button anywhere except through death (see Respawn Destination below). This is a hard design rule, not an oversight — an old version of this feature let players teleport straight back to the Ship with a full inventory at any time, which meant unlimited free global fast-travel and an instant escape hatch out of a losing fight. It was removed for good.

Wilderness Teleporter Network

Scattered across the wilderness are eight teleporter stations, each named after a letter of the Greek alphabet: Alpha Beacon, Beta Beacon, Gamma Beacon, Delta Beacon, Epsilon Beacon, Zeta Beacon, Eta Beacon, and Theta Beacon.

Where they are — and why that changes

Station positions aren’t fixed by the map designers — they’re randomly rolled. Each station lands somewhere in a ring around world spawn between 800 and 4000 blocks out, at a random angle, on the highest surface block it finds.

And they don’t stay put: every station’s position re-rolls once a day, at 00:00 UTC. The teleporter map genuinely moves under your feet day to day, so memorizing station locations only helps you for so long. (A 12-hour grace window stops a server restart near midnight from accidentally triggering two rotations back to back.)

Since the map keeps changing, don’t rely on memory — your PDA tracks the nearest teleporter live and updates automatically as stations rotate, so it always points you to whichever station is currently closest.

What a station looks like

Each one is a small, unmistakable two-tier monument:

  • A 5×5 foundation of Polished Deepslate.
  • A 3×3 base of Netherite Block, one level up — this is what powers the beacon beam.
  • A center Beacon block (purely decorative — it never actually grants a beacon effect) with a visible beam shooting straight up through 6 blocks of clear air.
  • Offset one block from the beacon: a Lightning Rod, which is the actual clickable activation trigger.

These structures are indestructible. Breaking blocks, building into the footprint, explosions (block or entity), and piston push/pull are all cancelled automatically. The only way to take one apart is an admin holding a Teleporter Bypass Egg (a Dragon Egg-based tool) with the right permission — this is a reusable admin tool, not something players can obtain or consume.

How to activate a station

You can trigger a station two ways:

  1. Right-click the beacon or the lightning rod, or
  2. Stand on the pad — just walking within 1.5 blocks of the beacon center (any of the 8 cells around it) arms it automatically, no click needed.

One catch on the proximity trigger: you have to actually walk onto the pad fresh. Arriving there via a teleport doesn’t count as “stepping on” it — this stops an instant re-trigger loop.

Once triggered:

  • A 3-second charge-up plays — a 10-segment action-bar progress bar reading “Charging,” with a rising chime each second, finishing with an “activation” sound and a “Teleporter online” message.
  • Stand still. Walking off the pad during charge-up cancels the whole thing: “Teleport link broken — you stepped off the pad.”
  • After a successful (or even attempted) activation, there’s a 5-second cooldown per player, so a stray extra click/step doesn’t double-trigger it. Spamming during the cooldown shows an action-bar message: “Teleporter recharging — Ns.”

Destinations from a wilderness station

Only two — deliberately fewer than the Ship offers:

Destination Icon Requirements
Imperial City Golden Horse Armor Same 5-minute cooldown and full-inventory-carries as the Ship’s City route
Team Base Core Beacon Same empty-inventory requirement (unless disabled) and active-Core requirement as the Ship’s Base route

There’s no “return to Ship” option from a wilderness station, for the exact same anti-abuse reasoning as the Ship’s missing return route: it would hand out unlimited free global travel with a full pack.

Requirements to use one

None, beyond the base permission quantumrift.transport.use — there’s no unlock quest or discovery gate. Just find one (or let your PDA point you to the nearest) and step on the pad.

Command shortcuts

  • /transport teleporter list — lists every registered station and its current live coordinates.
  • /transport teleporter nearest — reports the nearest station to you and how far away it is.

(Admin-only commands like rotate, rebuild, and bypassegg exist but aren’t for players.)

Respawn Destination

Die, and you’ll respawn somewhere — but you get to choose where, in advance, via /settings:

Option What happens
Team Base Respawns at your team’s Base Core. If your team has no active Core, you fall back to a normal vanilla respawn.
The Ship Respawns on the Ship deck — the hub everyone starts on. This is the only way to voluntarily get back to the Ship once you’ve left it.
Imperial City Respawns in the Imperial City. This does not touch your normal City transit cooldown — it’s a free trip.

If you haven’t set a preference, you’ll get a normal vanilla respawn.

Quick reference: what connects to what

From To Available? Cost / Gate
Ship Imperial City Yes 5-min cooldown
Ship Wilderness (RTP) Yes Empty inventory + armor
Ship Team Base Yes Empty inventory + armor, active Core required
Imperial City Ship No Overland travel or die and respawn at Ship
Wilderness Beacon Imperial City Yes 5-min cooldown
Wilderness Beacon Team Base Yes Empty inventory + armor, active Core required
Wilderness Beacon Ship No
Death Team Base / Ship / Imperial City Yes Your /settings choice; City respawn skips the cooldown
Login Your exact logout spot Yes Always — no teleporter involved

Tips for getting around

  • Check your PDA before you head out on a teleporter run. Since the wilderness network rotates every day at midnight UTC, a route you plotted yesterday may be stale — your PDA’s “Nearest Teleporter” tracking always reflects the current map.
  • Empty your inventory before you go looking for a Base Core or RTP teleport. Both routes check your inventory and armor slots (except your PDA), so arrive at the pad already cleared out rather than discovering the refusal at the last second.
  • Plan your City trips around the 5-minute cooldown. It applies whether you’re leaving from the Ship or from a wilderness Beacon — they share the same cooldown timer.
  • If you’re stuck in the Imperial City with nowhere fast to go, that’s by design. Getting back out is either an overland walk or accepting a death and respawning at your chosen destination.
  • The beacon beam is a landmark even when the station itself has moved. Keep an eye out for the deepslate-and-netherite pyramid silhouette against the skyline — it’s built to be seen from a distance.
